Public Consultation, Wigtown, 6th August, 6-8pm - Draft Plan for Offshore Wind Energy in Scottish Territorial Waters
Wigtown Bay is being considered as a possible location for an offshore wind energy development drafted by the Scottish Government. The public will be able to have their say on this matter.
Public consultations take place on the Friday, 6th August with one being held in the Wigtown County Buildings (7.00pm) and another in Dumfries. Marine Scotland officials will be on hand to provide more information about the plan and other projects relating to offshore wind, wave and tidal energy, and to hear your comments. A further meeting open to the public will be at Wigtown Chambers on August 11th - time to be confirmed, but it will most likely be during the day....
For further information please contact the offshore wind consultation team on 0131 244 1617 or by email at offshorewindconsultation@scotland.gsi.gov.uk.
We would urge people to attend these meetings, as they will decide whether or not the sea around our coastline is to become home to a massive windfarm development, not just in Wigtown Bay, but also others off Portpatrick, to the SW of the Mull of Galloway, and to the SW and also the E of Luce Bay.
Wind energy is not cheap or free. It is heavily subsidised and has already added around £32.00 to the annual domestic electricity bill. Your voice counts!
